postseason or no... its just nice to see a young team like this making positive steps forward.... the kids are getting better as the season rolls along.

Yes, but as much as we bag on Bozak, you don't expose him and let him go for nothing... trade him away instead so you get some kind of return...

Also, burn will now be screenshotting this post lol

Agree 100% - What is even more encouraging are the rookies that did not come with as much attention. Brown, Hyman, Zaitsev, Leivo - this team could be very good for a long time. Hopefully they will have some of Chicago's problems soon - too many good players.

when I was at the game Saturday, I could tell we needed Marner.

He's that good.

I think Bozak can be traded rather than exposed - The march 1 deadline will have some action this year - but I think there will be significantly more on and before draft day on June 23. Plenty of back door deals with LV.

you also dont protect him over some of the other assets the leafs have

who the hell knows? loulams has probably already showed mcphee for the concrete shoes he'd get him if he took certain players

* All players who have currently effective and continuing "No Movement" clauses at the time of the Expansion Draft (and who to decline to waive such clauses) must be protected (and will be counted toward their club's applicable protection limits).

From Nhl website. If they forced no trades to be protected there would be nothing to pick too many of those things around for crap that doesn't deserve. I think the legal look is that a no move means you can't be moved anywhere - waivers trades nothing. Whereas no trade means you can't trade without content but you canwaive them and and expansion draft isn't trade.

Nope. Career ending injured exempt.

* Players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or who otherwise have been confirmed to have a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy a club's player exposure requirements, unless approval is received from the NHL. Such players also may be deemed exempt from selection by the League.

I heard today that the League is looking at an exemption for players like Horton to not require protection. The ruling is still to be decided.
